The Rescue Hose and Ladder Co. Ambulance Service (RHL) is seeking both full and part time, qualified individuals to become valued members of our team!


RHL provides 911 ALS, IALS, and BLS coverage to seven municipalities in Clearfield County, as well as providing ALS intercepting and mutual aid to surround services, including but not limited to: Clearfield EMS, Dubois EMS, AmServ DuSan, Houtzdale-Ramey EMS, Madera EMS, Irvona EMS, Mahaffey EMS, Brady Township EMS.

Other Duties: 

  • Must be willing to work with other employees, volunteers, general public and other Public Safety Organizations.
  • ​Should display a positive attitude in the leadership of others and in the teaching of others in the E.M.S. field.
  • ​​Must have tact and sympathy in dealing with a variety of types of patients.
  • ​Courtesy, cooperation, tact and poise are required at all times. 
  • Must be willing to provide all types of services offered by RHL, be it  emergency or non-emergency ambulance calls, water rescue details, public relations details, or other calls for service or assigned tasks.

Job Duties: 

  • Answer ambulance dispatches, calmly, efficiently and promptly. Must use diplomacy and tact at all times and be courteous and polite to patients, relatives and friends.
  • ​Administer treatment to the patient at the scene and in route to the hospital in accordance with the training set forth by the Pennsylvania Department of Health and the designated service medical director. 
  • Operate an emergency vehicle at a safe and controlled speed, in accordance with established guidelines set forth in the Rescue Hose and Ladder Co. Ambulance Service Policy and Procedure Manual.
  • ​Complete patient care forms, insurance forms, and evaluation forms on all routine and emergency calls in a competent and timely fashion. 
  • ​Perform other related duties as may be assigned or required to meet emergency situations.
  • Assist other public safety agencies as required.
  • Be familiar with or comfortable learning the proper use the online systems such as:  ZOLL emsCharts, CadView, and Planit

Positions Available: 

  • ALS Providers: 
    • ​Paramedic, PHRN, PHPE, PHP
  • ​Intermediate Providers: 
    • ​AEMT
  • ​Basic Providers: 
    • ​Emergency Medical Technicians

* Applicants without these certifications will be considered. Certifications will be required by 90 days of employment. 

Work Schedule: 8, 16, and 24 hour shifts available. 7a-3p, 3p-11p, 11p-7a schedules.

Educational Qualifications:

  • All Providers: 
    • High School Diploma or GED equivalent.
    • Must have and maintain current EMT/Paramedic Certification in Pennsylvania (or be PA eligible)
    • Must have and maintain current BLS Provider certification. 
    • Must have and maintain a current Drivers License.
    • TQ PA Train Course*


  • ALS Providers Only

    • PALS certification
    • ​PHTLS or ITLS Certification*
    • ​Excited Delirium PA Train Course*

  • Must be familiar and able to comply with all Act 37 Rules and Regulations regarding operation of an emergency vehicle and Pre-Hospital EMS Personnel. 
  • Must be eligible to receive and maintain Medical Command Privileges.
